UniAtlas is an AI-powered university discovery platform. Our service aggregates publicly available academic data, publishes original editorial content, and provides AI-generated research reports. Different types of content on our platform are subject to different copyright considerations, as described in detail below.

All original content created by UniAtlas — including our platform code, design, editorial articles, AI advisory tools, and brand assets — is copyright © 2026 UniAtlas AI, Inc. All rights reserved, except where otherwise noted.

2. Platform Content

The following elements of the UniAtlas platform are the exclusive intellectual property of UniAtlas AI, Inc.:

• Software & Code: All source code, algorithms, APIs, and technical infrastructure underlying the UniAtlas platform.
• Design & UI: The visual design, layout, graphics, icons, user interface elements, and overall aesthetic of the platform.
• Brand Assets: The UniAtlas name, logo, wordmark, color palette, and associated brand materials.
• AI Tools & Reports: The structure, prompting methodology, and output format of UniAtlas AI advisor reports and analytical tools.
• Compiled Datasets: The curated, structured, and enriched presentation of university data as organized and displayed on UniAtlas (distinct from the underlying raw data).

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works from, publicly display, or commercially exploit any of these elements without our prior written permission.

Personal, non-commercial use — such as sharing a screenshot or quoting a short passage with attribution — is generally permitted under fair use principles.

3. University Data Sources

UniAtlas displays information about 25,000+ universities worldwide. Much of this data is sourced from open academic databases and public institutional sources. We are committed to proper attribution and compliance with each source's licensing terms.

3.1 OpenAlex

Institutional data including research metrics, publication counts, citation statistics, and academic taxonomy classifications are sourced from OpenAlex (openalex.org), an open catalog of scholarly works maintained by OurResearch. OpenAlex data is made available under the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Public Domain Dedication, meaning it carries no copyright restrictions. We thank the OpenAlex team for making this data openly accessible.

3.2 Public Institutional Sources

Some descriptive information (e.g., university descriptions, founding dates, location details) may be derived from publicly available institutional websites, Wikipedia (CC BY-SA licensed), or official government/accreditation databases. Where required by license, attribution is provided.

3.3 University Logos & Images

University logos displayed on UniAtlas are the registered trademarks of their respective institutions. Their display on UniAtlas is for identification and informational purposes only, consistent with nominative fair use. UniAtlas does not claim any ownership over these marks. If you are a representative of a university and wish to update or remove your institution's imagery, please contact us at copyright@uniatlas.org.

4. Blog & Editorial Content

All articles, guides, and blog posts published on UniAtlas — including those generated or refined with the assistance of AI tools — are © 2026 UniAtlas AI, Inc. and are protected by copyright law.

You are welcome to:

• Share links to UniAtlas articles on social media or other platforms.
• Quote short excerpts (up to ~50 words) in reviews, commentary, or educational materials, provided you clearly attribute UniAtlas and include a link to the original article.

You may not:

• Republish or reproduce full articles or substantial portions without prior written permission.
• Scrape, copy, or mirror UniAtlas blog content for AI training, SEO purposes, or competing services.
• Remove or obscure copyright notices or authorship attributions.

5. AI-Generated Content

UniAtlas uses artificial intelligence to generate personalised university advisory reports, essay feedback, financial analysis, and other research outputs for users. The following applies to this content:

• Reports you generate for personal use (e.g., your AI advisor report) belong to you. You may save, print, and share them for personal, non-commercial purposes.
• The underlying AI system — including its prompts, architecture, and output structure — remains the intellectual property of UniAtlas AI, Inc.
• Accuracy disclaimer: AI-generated content is provided for informational purposes only. UniAtlas makes no warranty as to its accuracy or completeness. Always verify information with official university sources.

6. User-Submitted Content

When you submit content to UniAtlas — such as reviews, comments, application essays stored in your account, or profile information — you retain ownership of that content. By submitting content, you grant UniAtlas a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, and moderate that content as necessary to operate the platform.

You represent and warrant that any content you submit:

• Is your original work or that you have all necessary rights to submit it.
• Does not infringe the copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights of any third party.
• Does not contain unlawful, defamatory, or harmful content.

UniAtlas reserves the right to remove user-submitted content that violates these terms or applicable law.

7. Trademarks

"UniAtlas," the UniAtlas logo, and associated marks are trademarks or service marks of UniAtlas AI, Inc. Nothing in this policy grants any right to use these marks without prior written authorisation.

All other trademarks, logos, and brand names mentioned on UniAtlas are the property of their respective owners. References to third-party trademarks are for identification purposes only and do not imply endorsement by or affiliation with UniAtlas.

8. Third-Party Content & Links

UniAtlas may contain links to third-party websites, including university websites, scholarship organisations, and external publications. These links are provided for convenience and informational purposes only. UniAtlas has no control over, and assumes no responsibility for, the content, copyright policies, or practices of any linked third-party sites.

If you believe that any third-party content linked from UniAtlas infringes your copyright, please contact the operator of that site directly. You may also notify us at copyright@uniatlas.org and we will consider removing the link.

9. DMCA & Copyright Takedown Notices

UniAtlas complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. § 512. If you believe that content on UniAtlas infringes your copyright, you may submit a written takedown notice to our designated copyright agent.

9.1 Required Information

Your DMCA notice must include all of the following:

1. Identification of the copyrighted work — describe the work you claim has been infringed (e.g., title, URL of original work, or attach a copy).
2. Identification of the infringing material — provide the specific URL(s) on UniAtlas where the allegedly infringing content appears.
3. Your contact information — full name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
4. Good-faith statement — a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
5. Accuracy statement — a statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
6. Signature — your physical or electronic signature.

9.2 Where to Send Notices

Send completed DMCA notices to our designated copyright agent:

Upon receiving a valid DMCA notice, UniAtlas will promptly investigate, and, where appropriate, remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing content and notify the user who posted it.

Warning: Submitting a false DMCA claim is a serious matter. Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), any person who knowingly misrepresents that content is infringing may be liable for damages, including legal fees.

10. Counter-Notices

If you believe your content was removed in error (e.g., you own the rights or the use is protected by fair use), you may submit a counter-notice to our copyright agent. Your counter-notice must include:

1. Your physical or electronic signature.
2. Identification of the removed content and the URL where it appeared before removal.
3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the content was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
4. Your name, address, telephone number, and email address.
5. A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if outside the US, any judicial district in which UniAtlas may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the original complainant.

Upon receipt of a valid counter-notice, UniAtlas will forward it to the original complainant and may restore the removed content after 10–14 business days unless the complainant files a court action.

11. Repeat Infringers

In accordance with the DMCA and our Terms of Service , UniAtlas will terminate the accounts of users who are determined to be repeat infringers. We take copyright compliance seriously and will take appropriate action against any user who repeatedly violates the intellectual property rights of others.
