What this policy covers

UniAtlas uses a mix of cookies and browser local storage to run the site, remember your preferences, and — only with your consent — measure usage and show ads. This page explains what each category does, why we use it, and how to control it. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy .

Essential (always on)

These keep the site functional and cannot be turned off through the cookie banner because the site would not work without them:

• Your saved cookie/consent preferences, stored in your browser so we don't ask again every visit.
• Session identity and sign-in state — UniAtlas stores your access and refresh tokens in your browser's local storage rather than a cookie, and reads them to keep you signed in and to authorize API requests.
• Basic security measures, such as CSRF and rate-limit protections applied to form submissions.

Analytics (optional)

When you consent to analytics, we record product-usage events — pages viewed, universities saved, tools used — to our own database, and optionally mirror a subset to PostHog, our analytics vendor, so we can understand which features help students and fix what doesn't work. Analytics stays off until you opt in via the consent banner shown on your first visit.

Advertising (optional)

With your consent, UniAtlas displays ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may set cookies to serve and measure ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Ads never appear on account, checkout, admin, or other private pages, and Premium subscribers do not see ads at all regardless of this setting. You can decline advertising cookies and still use the full site.

Managing your preferences

Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage after you respond to the consent banner. To change it, clear this site's cookies and local storage in your browser settings — the banner will reappear on your next visit so you can choose again. Doing so will also sign you out, since sign-in state uses the same storage. Blocking cookies and local storage entirely will not prevent you from using the site, but will sign you out and disable saved preferences.
